How cool is that?

The coolest thing happened to me today.

As i waddle to board the MRT to work, I went on board to a as usual to find myself on a somehow crowded train... things seems normal until the man beside me ( heroic uncle), made a young man give up his seat for me! Can you ever imagine that to happen - he tapped on the young lad's shoulder and pointed my stomach and basically, the young lad had to ( no choice right- unless he really thick skin type) to give up his seat for me!

Not that I am seat deprived readers out there, but ever since I got pregnant, i realised that people are no longer giving seats on public transport to the supposedly " more needy". Not only towards pregnant woman of all belly sizes ( i forgive them if they genuinely think that they are fat and not preggy) but towards wobbly old folks as well who are struggling with the standing. This is really sad as our society progress on being a gracious one that smiles - i hope that it's not smiling at the agony of others and gloating that their own needs have been satisfied instead.

School children, hardy young lads, pretty gals they are all stuck on their seats whenver a preggy/old folks comes on board.

I've done some observations - first they spot one of them (preg/oldie) standing in front of them- this is what happens in sequence. All are based on true stories...

Scenario 1: ( if they are alone)

1. They saw with big wide eyes.
2. They stare with big wide eyes.
3. They look away with slightly smaller eyes now.
4. They close their eyes- suddenly realising how tired they are.
5. Zzzzzzzz

Scenario 2: (if they are with friends)
1. One or both saw.
2. Both of them stops talking for a moment.
3. Both of them resumes talking and decided to not look away from their friends.
4. They talked passionately, looking only at their friend's face.
5. ^(&^*&%&%&^%*&^*

Scenario 3: ( one of my favourite scenarios)
1. Multi-racial country, multi-faith - the row seats, an indian, a malay and 2 chinese.
2. Indian is a a hindu, the malay lady was reading their version of "daily bread", the chinese had this amulet on her and the other had wore a cross on her chest.
3. All spotted.
4. All looked down.
5. God bless you all.

I remembered my days when i was in primary school where i attended lessons on (Hao3 Gong1 Ming2 -> errr i dunno how to post chinese up leh) and i am supposed to tick all the right boxes that reflects the right morale values - wonder if schools still teach such stuff.

Anyway, this post is about the heroic uncle ( claps for the uncle!) and also a reminder to us all to be more sensitive to the needs of others as we are a testimony to God. Honour God in our ways - and all parents to be - please teach your children the right values. Life is not about satisfying our own needs and comfort - it's about loving your brethren and doing unto others what you want others to do unto you.

Have a great Friday the 13th! I shall give thanks to the UNCLE today!

Thanks Uncle! You made my day! :)
