We set off for Yong Peng on a very hazy Saturday morning. I think the PSI hit 150 that day and visibility was rather poor, but we got there without much hassle. The journey was pretty enriching as we had Pastor Xu (speaker for the wedding) & family in our car and had many interesting discussion on marriage, parenting and child development. This pastoral couple has many years of experience in marriage and family counselling. They held many workshops on parenting based on Christian values and shared their experience in identifying early childhood problems and corrective methods. I strongly believe young families will benefit from attending these workshops and we will be looking to invite them to conduct likewise for our church in the near future. Stay tune for this!
We arrived in Yong Peng at 9.30am and had Wan Tan Mee(the dark sauce type taste so yummy) & Niang Dou Fu for breakfast upon Baijie's recommendation. After breakfast, we headed to St Stephen's Church for the wedding service and I finally had an opportunity to visit the church of my Yong Peng bros and sis. The wedding couple was beaming in love and joy throughout the wedding ceremony. We are so happy for them. It is always touching to witness two different lives become one in the presence of God and his church.
The wedding lunch took place in a nearby Chinese restaurant - Fu Hua Restaurant. This date must be an auspicious one as there were 7 weddings in the same restaurant on that day. The main attraction, besides our bride and groom, was the karaoke session which kept us entertained throughout lunch. The elderly aunties and uncles impressed us with their rendition of Hokkien and Mandarin oldies, and some even had dance moves. I salute them for their courage but at some point, my ears just couldn't take it anymore ...heehee...
After the wedding, we went shopping for local products and intended to try out the famous Xi Dao Fishball and Fu Zhou Mee before going home. However, to our dismay, our car gave problem at this point and the car battery went dead. We had to drive home immediately after jump starting the car. Nevermind.... I will be back for the food that I miss out on this trip:)
